Here are some common questions about Farrow Gardening.
What gardening services do you offer?
We offer a comprehensive range of services to keep your garden looking its best, including:
Regular maintenance: We handle tasks like pruning, mowing, planting, weeding, hedge trimming, and tree work (up to 3 meter).
Garden transformations: Need a fresh start? We can tackle spring cleaning, autumn clear-ups, or overgrown garden rescues. In addition, we offer one-off tidy-up services.
Landscaping and design: We provide design and planting advice, alongside services like fencing, decking, patios, and natural lawns. (We can also discuss alternatives to traditional lawns.)
Do you take away green waste?
While we encourage on-site composting and wildlife habitat creation whenever possible, we understand that’s not always feasible. For larger projects or if you require green waste removal, we partner with responsible third-party services at an additional cost. We recommend contacting us for a quote for green waste removal, especially for larger projects.
What is Farrow Gardening all about?
Farrow Gardening is a family-run business built on a shared passion for creating beautiful gardens in Cambridge. Dave Farrow, with over 40 years of experience, brings his expertise in landscaping and construction (earning him the nickname “Caveman Dave” for his traditional methods!). Jeven Farrow, following in his father’s footsteps into the garden, combines his love for plants, nature and the environment with practical knowledge gained from working with other garden businesses. Together, they form a strong team dedicated to transforming your outdoor space.
How do you plan to bring nature back into my garden?
We bring nature back with native plants, wildlife habitats (bug hotels, bird baths), and organic methods. We also use companion planting to create a thriving ecosystem that attracts beneficial creatures. Our approach works with your garden, not against it.
What are your hourly rates?
Within Cambridge: Our competitive hourly rate is £30 per gardener.
Outside Cambridge: The first hour is £50 per gardener due to travel costs, with subsequent hours remaining at £30 per gardener.
Do you offer one-off tidy-ups?
Absolutely! We understand life gets busy, and gardens can quickly become overgrown. We’re happy to help with one-off tasks like spring cleaning, autumn clear-ups, or overgrown garden rescues.
How often should I get my garden serviced?
The frequency depends on your garden’s size, needs, and desired level of maintenance. We offer flexible scheduling options, from weekly visits to seasonal tidy-ups. We can recommend a plan based on your garden during our garden visit.
What steps do you take to be sustainable?
We’re committed to sustainable gardening practices and minimising our environmental impact:
Mostly electric and hand tools: We prioritise reducing noise pollution and carbon emissions.
Cycling to appointments: When feasible, we cycle to appointments in central Cambridge.
Promoting organic methods: We promote composting, mulching, and using natural fertilisers to nourish your soil naturally and create healthy ecosystems.
